Petey on his way to the premieres

The documentary What About Petey? is awaiting its gala previews.

Director Martin Trabalík’s documentary film Co s Péťou? (What About Petey?) will be released in cinemas on October 30, 2025. This feature-length realistic exploration delves into life on the edge of social, physical, and emotional possibilities. You can attend the premiere screenings in Prague, Brno, or Olomouc in September.

After the sudden death of his wife, the film’s protagonist, Petr Jochec, must take care of his two teenage children, his daughter Vanessa and his son Petr, who suffers from a severe autism spectrum disorder. The feature-length documentary by director Martin Trabalík, who himself worked as a personal assistant for several years, addresses neglected topics such as the social support system and the lives of caregivers, but above all emphasizes the power of interpersonal bonds in difficult moments of life.

Audiences will be able to attend the gala previews with the creative team and protagonists of the film on September 17, 2025 at 8:30 p.m. at the Lucerna Cinema in Prague, September 22, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the Art Cinema in Brno Septmeber 29, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. at the Metropol Cinema in Olomouc.

The film will also have its festival premiere in October, and audiences can look forward to seeing it in theaters starting October 30, 2025.

In the spring of 2025, the film received a special mention from the Silver Eye Award jury after its screening at the East Silver Market, which took place as part of the East Doc Platform 2025 and the One World 2025 film festival. Since 2009, the award has been given to the best documentary films from Central and Eastern Europe. The world premiere of the documentary took place in March 2025 at the renowned Thessaloniki International Documentary Film Festival.
