Documentary movie The World According to My Dad entered cinemas at the beginning of November. Since then, it has won the Student Jury Award and the Online Audience Award at the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival, a Special Mention from the International Jury at the One World International Documentary Film Festival in Bratislava, and traveled to the United Arab Emirates for COP 28 International Climate Summit hosted by the United Nations in Dubai.
The director Marta Kovářová and her father, the protagonist of the film RNDr. Jiří Svoboda, CSc., DSc. gave countless interviews, debated with the audience in a series of discussions after the screening and dozens of reviews were published, one of them even in the prestigious cultural magazine Variety. The soundtrack from the film, recorded by Marta Kovářová and her band Budoár Staré Dámy, is available to listen to on Spotify, Apple Music and other platforms.
The film is accompanied by a book published by Togga called The World According to My Dad | How to get a hen to start laying duck eggs. You can buy the book in Czech in the publisher’s e-shop.
The slogan “Tax the carbon globally,” which is the lyric of one of the songs on the soundtrack, was adopted by the public, for example, during the University Climate Strike, where Marta and Jiří also presented their idea of a Global Carbon Tax.
